Principal's Welcome
Welcome! My name is Kris Wimmer, and I am very excited and fortunate to be going into my first year as the principal at William Monroe High School (WMHS). I am going on my 13th year in the county and have served many different roles including: first-grade teacher, middle school math teacher, alternative education teacher, and assistant principal at WMHS.
One of the pictures below shows my wife, Leah Wimmer, and I on the beach in Nags Head, North Carolina. The OBX is our favorite place to vacation by far. I am very much a beach bum and enjoy relaxing on the beach, swimming in the ocean and charter fishing. Chances are if we are not at home, we are at the beach!
This year I am very excited to be in my new role. I’m looking forward to working with teachers, students, and families of WMHS to ensure a successful year. High school will be an exciting time that will challenge students to grow both academically and personally. Our goal at WMHS is to provide students with the tools and skills they need to be successful in life after graduation. When students leave WMHS, we want to ensure that they have a plan to accomplish at least one of the following goals, which is to be: 1) enlisted, 2) enrolled in a two-year college/university, four-year college/university, or trade school, or 3) employed in a career.
I am looking forward to working collaboratively with students and families to support, encourage and guide all students to make their time at William Monroe High School the best experience possible.
Thanks,
Kris Wimmer
